West Texas SAVE Summit a Success! Posted April 22, 2013 by NationalSAVE

Rolling tumbleweeds and the ability to see for miles at a time were going on outside, but the real party was happening inside!  Inside, laughter and positive communication, SAVE-A-Chunga and team building were all the rave.  On Friday April 12th, the Ira, Texas independent school districts junior high and high school SAVE chapters sponsored the third annual West Texas SAVE Summit.  With over 95 people in attendance representing four different surrounding high schools, you can imagine the excitement in the air.  This year’s theme was “Speaking Out Against Violence” including six activity stations focusing on leadership training, peer pressure, take home activities, empowerment, motivation, and identifying bullying. Apart from the amazing sessions of the overwhelming amount of SAVE learning was amazing “West Texas home cooking”!  At the end of the day, tired yet exuberant students left the West Texas SAVE Summit with arms full of resources and chapter-ideas to take back to their school. ~ Jaclyn Morton, SAVE Youth Advisory Board Chair
