dunnellon msSince Friday morning, National SAVE has spoken to many individuals and chapters and how they are responding to the Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting.  Many chapters are sending letters of support to the students, families, and first responders of Newtown, CT.  Others are hosting SAVE meetings and talking about the fears of youth violence in their own school and community. Chapters are meeting with safe school planning committees to review the schools safe school plan and how it can be improved.  SAVE members are  pledging to do 27 random acts of kindness in memory of each life lost.  Other chapters are raising funds to sponsor a SAVE Chapter at an elementary school in their community.  Please share what your SAVE Chapter is doing, or what you are doing as an individual.

Ira S.A.V.E group has taken a proactive approach since this terrible incident. Our first activity we held was having the entire community wear purple, (which stands for nonviolence) on the Monday, Dec. 18, after the school shooting. We are also having each teacher let the students create cards and letters to send to the family’s to show our support. One last thing I would like to say is thank you to S.A.V.E for giving our students the knowledge to support others in this time of need.
