South Pike High School
South Pike’s SAVE Chapter runs in conjunction with the schools’ Teens Against Chemical Abuse Club. They participated in Red Ribbon Week in October 2012. The chapter will work with the school’s Teens Against Chemical Abuse Club and the Pike County Sheriff’s Department to prepare trainings and presentations about teen violence in America.
Spring activities included participation in the statewide youth conference “Teens On The Movie,” designed as a reward for students involved in highway safety issues and who have pledged to be drug, alcohol and tobacco free. In May, there was a Safe Prom pledge, assembly and presentation by the Pike County Sheriff’s Department about teen safety and driving. Message cards reminding prom attendees not to drink and drive on prom night were attached to flowers and handed out as students left the prom. The SAVE Advisor at South Pike High School is Tyrone Varnado.
