PRESS: Coast Schools Get Grants to Promote Safe Driving – Sun Herald – January 29, 2016
For Teen Safe Driving Week and America’s Safe School Week, Ocean Springs High School had public service announcements on their school news show, the Greyhound. They also provided students with activities that promoted the importance of seat belt awareness.
The school will hold anti-bullying presentations and assemblies in April for National Youth Violence Prevention Week. The SAVE Club will enter a float in the homecoming parade to spread the messages of safety, anti-bullying, and community service.
In October, they held a Trunk or Treat event and handed out safety brochures to all of the elementary schools in the district. This reached thousands of students. Also held a Red Ribbon week event and gave out red bracelets and students dressed in various attire to represent their willingness to stay off drugs.
For National Youth Traffic Safety Month, Ocean Springs High School will have an accident reenactment scene to educate students on the importance of safe driving. The school will also promote the X the Text campaign to encourage students to develop safe driving habits.
