North New Summit High School
The SAVE (Students Against Violence Everywhere) Chapter of North New Summit School recently held a Safe-Driving Rally to coincide with the school’s annual Health Fair. Mississippi Highway Patrolman Tony Dunn and Greenwood DUI Enforcement Officer Chris McDonald spoke and demonstrated to the students the effects of driving when intoxicated/distracted. The officers emphasized the dangers of texting and driving, and they also used Fatal Vision goggles to educate the students on the dangers of driving while intoxicated. A car simulator was brought on the school campus to illustrate the damages an accident can cause when not wearing a seat belt. The event was open to students, parents, and members of the community.
Hwy Patrolman Tony Dunn and Allstate Agent Barry Makamson also visited the school during Prom week to to promote Youth Traffic Safety. A video was shown and a question/answer session took place. Students were informed about the dangers of drinking/texting while driving as well as the repercussions and after effects. The SAVE Advisor at North New Summit School is Tori Haddon.
