Carleen Wray, Executive Director of the National Association of Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE), has announced that Ms. Vickie Szarek, Advisor of the Garner Magnet High School SAVE Chapter, was recognized by the National Association of Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) for her youth safety and violence prevention efforts. The 2011-2012 National SAVE Advisor of the Year Award was awarded to Ms. Szarek for outstanding performance and lasting contributions to her school, community, and students, and for exemplifying the ideals of SAVE.”

According to Ms. Casey Story, a former Garner Magnet High School SAVE Chapter member, “Ms. Szarek is the driving force behind the SAVE chapter at Garner Magnet High School. Through her encouragement of recruitment, the chapter that began small in size has continued to grow. She has an open mind to all of her students’ ideas and an open heart that leads the chapter in service to the community. Ms. Szarek has been an inspiration to many students and deserves to be recognized for all of her hard work and dedication to SAVE.”
