The Travis County Sheriffs Office would like to announce the winners of our Students Against Violence Coloring/Poster Contest: *1st Place: Saskia Holman, Hill Elementary-Austin, Texas, 4th Grader *2nd Place: Karimah Prince, Pease Elementary-Austin, Texas, 4th Grader *3rd Place: Jordan Johnson, Neidig Elementary-Elgin, Texas, 4th Grader

Sheriff Greg Hamilton presented each student with a commemorative winners poster, as well as prizes, on Nov. 7, 2008.

"These students now serve as shining examples to prevent bullying in their school. It is every students right to have a safe place to study every day and they become a safety partner to help keep their school safe," Hamilton said.

The Travis County Sheriff's Office, in partnership with the Austin American-Statesman, launched this coloring contest Aug. 1, 2008, for Travis County students to teach them how to recognize and prevent bullying in their schools and communities.

In 2006, the Travis County Sheriffs Office joined the National SAVE Organization, which teaches young people conflict resolution, community service and crime prevention. Students had the opportunity to color "Mr. Cool" based on the SAVE pledge.
