STUDENTS AGAINST VIOLENCE EVERYWHERE ~
TRAVIS COUNTY
TRAVIS COUNTY SAVE CHAPTER ANNOUNCES COLORING/POSTER CONTEST WINNERS
The Travis County Sheriffs Office would like to announce the winners of our Students
Against Violence Coloring/Poster Contest:
*1st Place: Saskia Holman, Hill Elementary-Austin, Texas, 4th Grader *2nd
Place: Karimah Prince, Pease Elementary-Austin, Texas, 4th Grader *3rd
Place: Jordan Johnson, Neidig Elementary-Elgin, Texas, 4th Grader
Sheriff Greg Hamilton presented each student with a commemorative winners
poster, as well as prizes, on Nov. 7, 2008.
"These students now serve as shining examples to prevent bullying in their
school. It is every students right to have a safe place to study every day
and they become a safety partner to help keep their school safe," Hamilton
said.
The Travis County Sheriff's Office, in partnership with the Austin
American-Statesman, launched this coloring contest Aug. 1, 2008, for Travis
County students to teach them how to recognize and prevent bullying in their
schools and communities.
In 2006, the Travis County Sheriffs Office joined the National SAVE
Organization, which teaches young people conflict resolution, community
service and crime prevention. Students had the opportunity to color "Mr.
Cool" based on the SAVE pledge.
